In order to improve the first-aid awareness and on-site first-aid ability of the general staff members, and to further convey the concept of “conveying love and care through voluntary service, and building a new style of civilized practice”, the hospital invited first-aid experts to give popular science lectures during the “Guardian of life, ‘Save’ around” Volunteer First Aid Knowledge Popularization Activity. Discussions included cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Heimlich, Shixuan bloodletting and first-aid techniques for convulsions and hyperthermia in young children, and experts demonstrated first aid operation skills for common emergencies such as foreign bodies in the airway and cardiac arrest on site. The lectures were both professional and informative, as well as easy to understand. The experts explained in detail the definition, importance, specific steps and operation essentials of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the Heimlich maneuver. In order to further deepen the impression and experience the operation essentials, after the demonstration, the training experts invited the young volunteers to do hands-on exercises, provided hand-to-hand guidance, and corrected any problems found in the operation, which led to a good training effect.

Learning basic first aid skills can improve the ability to save oneself and each other in emergencies, giving every patient exposed to a sudden accident one more chance to be saved and playing a positive role in building a harmonious and civilized social environment.
