Recently, Harbin Marine Boiler & Turbine Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as “HMBTRI”) and China National Offshore Oil (China) Company Limited (CNOOC) Hainan Branch successfully signed a contract for the supply of 25MW gas turbine generator set for the world’s first 100,000-ton deep-water semi-submersible production and storage platform — ” Shenhai¬—1″ energy station, marking that China’s first 25MW gas turbine generator set applied to 1500-meter deep-water semi-submersible offshore platforms has entered into the implementation stage.

CGT25 series gas turbine has been developed for more than 20 years for the power demand in the fields of offshore engineering, distributed energy, natural gas pipeline transmission and hydrogen utilization, etc. which has exceeded 200,000 equivalent operation hours. In order to further expand the application scenarios in the field of offshore engineering and realize the leap from fixed platforms to ultra-deepwater floating platforms, on the basis of the successful development and application of the 25MW dual-fuel gas turbine generator set for Penglai 19-3 fixed offshore platform, HMBTRI has carried out the project “Domestic Gas Turbine Generator Set for Semi-submersible Oil and Gas Production Platforms” jointly with CNOOC from the year of 2020. Faced with a variety of difficult conditions such as the complex motion characteristics of semi-submersible platforms, the compact layout requirements, etc. the project team has developed and mastered the applicability analysis technology of gas turbine generator sets for deep-water semi-submersible platforms, the overall arrangement of the units and lightweight design technology, the vibration isolation technology , the design of low-emission dual-fuel combustion chamber and the fuel system, and the low NOx emission technology, etc., thus laying a solid foundation for the implementation of engineering application.

Keeping the instructions in mind and taking on the responsibility, in the subsequent engineering implementation process, HMBTRI will continue to strengthen and optimize the overall resources, and make every effort to ensure the timely delivery of the 25MW dual-fuel gas turbine generator set for the semi-submersible offshore platform with guaranteed quality and quantity.
